International Day of Education 2026

Education goes beyond learning within the four walls of a classroom. It is a powerful tool for equity, wellbeing, and social change. The 2026 International Day of Education is being marked at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Designated by the United Nations General Assembly and observed annually on 24 January, the day celebrates the vital role of education in advancing peace and sustainable development.

As we commemorate the International Day of Education, we are reminded that education for one is education for all. We must say no to the marginalization of the girl child, which continues to deny her access to the same quality of education as her male counterparts. When quality education is accessible to all, it not only shapes individual futures but also strengthens entire communities and nations. Education remains a key driver of poverty alleviation and social progress.

According to the United Nations, “about 244 million children and adolescents around the world are out of school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school” (United Nations, International Day of Education 24 January). Let us continue working together to promote accessible, equitable, and quality education for all. To support our mission, please contact us.
